Planning for the future: seminars for Governors and Principals of FE Colleges The purpose of this seminar is to enable Governors and Principals to consider possible strategic and operational directions for their colleges in the light of the new era of demand-led funding and key changes in 14- 19 learning options, funding and delivery. The focus is very much on business options within the adult (workless and employed) and 14- 19 markets.

No one solution is advocated during the seminar. Its intention is to provide an opportunity for Governors and Principals to consider a range of business options in a confidential setting against a background where:

• Traditional funding methodologies are changing

• Funding responsibilities are shifting (to local authorities and the future Skills Funding Agency) and RDAs and local authorities will be assuming greater economic development and planning responsibilities flowing from the Sub National Review.

• The Government is looking for greater synergy between employment and skills programmes.

• Other kinds of providers are being awarded major contracts (e.g. for Pathways to Work) which may present business opportunities for colleges.

Each seminar is tailored to reflect local priorities and issues, and follow up support is available to individual colleges.
